Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, where it's kept and how to ask us about it, in plain English.

  • What we collect
    Only what you send us.
  • Where it's kept
    On Cloudflare.
  • Cookies
None from us, so no banner.
  • Your say
Ask to see or delete it.

Who we are

Melbourne AI Lab is an independent AI and software studio in Melbourne VIC. This policy explains how we handle personal information. We follow the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in plain terms.

What we collect

  • Contact form: your email and phone (required), and, if you choose to give them, your name, company, industry, service needed, budget range, preferred time and message.
  • Free tools: what you type into them, such as a web address for the website check, numbers for the calculator, or your email address to receive the checklist.
  • Visit statistics: simple, anonymous counts of page views from Cloudflare Web Analytics (see Cookies and analytics below).
  • If you email us, book a call or message us on WeChat: whatever you send us, plus the details of that service.

How we use it

We use your information to reply to you, run the tools you asked for, give you a quote and, if you hire us, do the work. We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for unrelated marketing. We only email you about things you've asked about.

Where it's stored

Contact form submissions are saved in a database (Cloudflare D1) on Cloudflare, which also hosts this site. When someone sends the form, we get an email notification at our business inbox. Cloudflare and our email provider may store data on servers outside Australia, so your information may be handled overseas. We choose providers with a good reputation for security.

Cookies and analytics

We don't set cookies on this site. To see how many people visit, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies and doesn't build a profile of you. That's why there's no cookie banner. To keep spam out, the contact form may use Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that you're a person, not a bot.

Who else sees it

Only the services that help us run things, such as Cloudflare (hosting, storage, email routing and analytics), Cal.com if you book a call, and Stripe if you pay by card. Each has its own privacy policy. We may also share information if the law requires it.

Keeping it safe, and how long

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse and loss. We keep it only as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry or project, or to meet legal obligations, and then delete it.

Your rights and privacy requests

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email contact@melailab.com with "Privacy request" in the subject line and we'll reply as soon as possible. If you're not happy with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
