Cafés, restaurants & tourist-area shops

Cafés, restaurants and shops in busy tourist areas: the same questions, the same bookings, and never enough hours.

PAINS

Usual headaches

The things we hear most.

Bookings and no-shows

Phone bookings are easy to miss, and an empty table you prepared for costs real money. Online bookings with a confirmation and a reminder help guests turn up.

The same questions, all day

Opening hours, allergens, dogs, groups. They arrive by phone, Instagram and Google, and each one pulls you off the floor.

Delivery-app commission

Uber Eats lists a 30% commission on marketplace delivery orders. Ordering from your own website keeps more of each sale and keeps the customer relationship with you.

Source: Uber Eats Australia merchant pricing page (merchants.ubereats.com/au/en/pricing), Marketplace pricing, Uber Delivery 30%, checked October 2026. Your own payment fees still apply.

Chinese-speaking visitors

In a survey of more than 1,500 Chinese visitors, language was the difficulty mentioned most. A Chinese page and menu make it easy for them to choose you.

Source: L.E.K. and Australia China Business Council, The China Visitor Economy: Rebuilding Momentum and Unlocking Australia’s Full Opportunity (May 2026). Language barriers were the most commonly cited challenge, at 21% of respondents.

EXAMPLE

A scenario

An illustration with stated assumptions, not a real client.

Example

A café answers its most common questions

Assumptions: We assume about 15 messages a day about hours, allergens and bookings, at around 2 minutes each, and that a chatbot built from the café's own menu and FAQ handles about two-thirds of them. Bookings and complaints still go to the owner.
